I am now getting more page views on my blog from Russia rather than the United States according to the blogger stats page.  Not what I would have expected.  Hey, all you people in Russia, thanks for the support!  If you leave a comment on the blog in Russian its no problem because the blog has a translator function on the right side bar.  Let me know how you are all doing out there in Russia.  Just because Obama and Putin don't get along doesn't mean we can't be friends.

Crohn's problems today

Was supposed to do several fun things today but instead I am in bed recovering from a Crohn's related problem. No fever but I feel like someone worked me over pretty good. I guess its back to the old oat meal breakfast routine until this clears up.  No eating of any kind today unless I want an emergency room visit.  Pretty sure that a doctor is not needed unless this problem continues past today.  I am not a real fan of going to see doctors but I suppose they are a necessary evil sometimes.  Would like to at least see the mail but I am too ill to get it and no one else will bring it to me.  Even my usually loyal cat is not pestering me today to cheer me up. I actually had this weekend off so naturally this had to happen.  I could tell you how I actually feel but that might not be cheerful enough.

Real Sicilian in Hartford, WI

We finally had time to get some take out at the Real Sicilian market and cafe.  The egg plant Parmesan is great.  Hoping this cafe really takes off and grows.  My wife says the food is authentic and she knows her stuff.  I like just about anything so my wife's opinion is definitely more important on this subject.

School Choice using a total voucher system.

All parents in the USA should be given a voucher to send their children to the school of their choice. Failed schools would be eliminated by parents making good choices.

The schools and college I attended were fine but some young people today are not as privileged as me.  There are schools in Milwaukee that have a zero percent rating on the reading capability of their children. Would you send your child to a school like that if you had any other choice? It is not the child's fault that the school he is going to can't teach him.

What exactly is wrong with schools that can't teach children to read?  It does not make any difference what is wrong with these schools.  Close these schools, lock the doors, fire the teachers and use a bulldozer to raze the school to the ground before they hurt the lives of any more children.  Provide the parents of these children with a voucher that will allow them to go to a school that can at least teach them to read.

I recommend that people choose Christian schools for their children rather than secular schools.  The secular schools in Milwaukee do not seem to be up to the job.

100 year old birthday party at the Hilton

We just got back from a birthday party for my wife's 100 year old Aunt.  Nice people, Good food, and a great time had by all.  If I ever reach 100 years old (I predict that I won't), I hope I would look half as good as my wife's Aunt.  She is sharp mentally and pretty mobile physically.  Must have lived right and had good genes.

Relatives from various parts of the country were there.  The Hilton is really a good venue for this type of party. We don't go to the Hilton that often and my wife rarely gets to see all her relatives so she was very happy. Sicilians and Germans can really put together a good party when they have a reason.  Sometimes they even put together a party without a reason.

Christians get a bullet to the head in Oregon.

The murderer in Oregon asked some victims if they were a Christian.  Christians were shot in the head. Would you deny Christ if someone had a gun to your head? What makes a person proclaim they are a Christian instead of denying Christ even though they know they will die for that statement? No one should be put to that test if there is anyway to prevent it.

Some of our news media and politicians are deliberately obscuring the fact that Christians were targeted in this horrible crime.  This crime seems to be a religious hate crime.  Its not just a tragedy caused by having an unattended illegal gun laying around for a lunatic to pick up. The news media and politicians that are using this event to advance their own agendas dishonor the people that were killed.  The relatives of the dead have a right to say what they believe regarding the situation but I suspect their grief will simply be exploited by the media and politicians.  There is room for legitimate disagreement over what our laws should be to prevent future deaths.

Why were Christians the ones that were singled out for death?  Could it be the sarcastic hate speech directed at Christians by some parts of our current atheistic culture influenced a lunatic to commit a religious hate crime?  Maybe some little sick cartoon on social media influenced the delusional killer.  Perhaps the killer was of another religion that considered this act justified.  The people are still dead and knowing the reason they were killed will not bring them back.

Not all religions and philosophies of life are equal. There is an absolute right and a wrong for many situations.  An idea in the killers head caused him to commit the crime.  I am not a person that cares too much for religious norms and behaviors but the killing could have been prevented if the killer had different ideas in his head.  The ideas spoken by Jesus in the Bible would have prevented this killing if the murderer had heard and accepted them.
