Time for a garden party!

Ebola should be taken more seriously by the United States

Ebola kills 90% of the people it infects and it spreads with little effort. It could come to the United States by plane infecting many people at a rapid pace. Decades ago we would quarantine areas with a disease this virulent and I think we may need to do that again at this time. We should send help and brave volunteers to these areas but no one should be permitted to come out of an infected area until the disease is eradicated there. We can try to develop vaccines and treatments but its not going to be fast enough to stop a disease like Ebola. Ebola can also mutate or other diseases can arise that are just as bad. A quarantine is the right type of action to take for the purpose of preventing more deaths.

Crohn's disease is a laugh a minute!

New painful little sores on the inside of my mouth. Crohn's disease apparently causes these fun little sores also.  I am starting to feel like the poor man in the Biblical parable with his sores. I plan on going to the same ultimate destination he went to though so things could be worse. I have seen pictures of some epic Crohn's sores on the internet and I hope it doesn't get that bad. Froedtert Doctors have some entertaining test lined up for me next month.  Always something to look forward to.

Middle Earth: Shadow of Mordor video game

My younger son can hardly wait for Middle Earth: Shadow of Mordor to come out. He talks nonstop about it with great enthusium.  I have learned more about this game than I did about World War II.  There are all new villains!

The only thing the United States can do is try to negotiate a more permanent truce between Israel and Hamas. We should try to stop any blood shed when we can but realistically there will not be any peace here that will last. This area has been a battle ground for thousands of years and that is simply not going to change.

Christians in the United States need to wake up and smell the coffee. Mosul Christians were given an ultimatum by ISIS of either leave Mosul, convert to Islam or die.  Really think it couldn't happen in the United States some day? ISIS and similar groups need to be stopped now by a combination of swift military action and long term support of non-government Christian agencies. We need to remember 9/11 and be prepared for a long term ideological conflict with religious fanatics willing to die and kill for their cause. Most Christians in the United States are not willing to die for the right to practice their religion. What will they do when ISIS fighters give them an ultimatum?

Metal Gear Video Game versus original Star Trek: The Ultimate Match Up !

My son likes to play the Metal Gear Video Game series on PS4 but I told him that in my day the original Star Trek was the cats meow and simply couldn't be beat by video games.  When I was a young lad we had three TV channels and the only DVR's were on Star Trek.  Since Star Trek only played at certain times of day, I made a deal with my father to take off from farm work at those times.  Some of this farm work involved forking about 10 tons of winter manure out of a poorly designed building into a manure spreader.  I don't think my son has any conception of the type of work that is but he said it sounded pretty bad.  You know what, it was bad.  Thank God for Star Trek time.  In fact I used to set my clock ahead a few minutes every 10 minutes or so to show to my father so that I could expedite Star Trek time for myself.  He finally figured out this cruel deception on my part but he just thought it was funny.  I always wanted my father to buy a Bobcat loader for this task but why should he do that as long as I was still on the farm.  A Bobcat Loader would have been my Metal Gear game back then.
