The
Pope is right about using
military force to protect
Iraq minorities. Any
human being with a conscience can see that something needs to be done to stop the torture and murder of these innocent people. This situation is very similar to the
rise of Adolf Hitler and his
persecution of Jews during
WWII. I would advocate the heavy use of our
carrier based air power combined with local armies that are willing to work with us to stop ISIS cold right now. There is not any reason to wait while using weak military force for limited operations. If there ever was a case for dropping as many bombs as we can it is to stop ISIS at this time. What the hell are we waiting for another 9/11 style attack on our homeland by ISIS? If ISIS succeeds in establishing control over large areas of the
Mideast, the
United States will almost certainly be required to use large numbers of ground troops to protect our own vital interests at the cost of many American lives.
