I would take the following actions to improve our immigration policies:
Elect a President that will stop terrorists from entering our country.
Improve the vetting process for people coming into our country. Require them to have a person or group willing to be financially responsible if they can't support themselves. They should also be monitored by their responsible party for 10 years and reported if they have suspicious behavior.
Allow immigrants to join our military and move their family to the head of the line for U.S. citizenship.
Do not allow religious or race based testing for immigration.
Vote Trump out and expose his anti-American ideas.
Increase legal immigration quotas from Mexico and other countries with a careful vetting process.
Use our military to patrol our borders. Involve the use of sensing equipment on planes and helicopters to locate smugglers.
Allow amnesty for illegal immigrants already in the country if they are found to not be a threat and can support themselves, be supported by family or private group.
Ask other countries to take their share of immigrants from Syria fleeing ISIS oppression. Muslim countries should be willing to take in Muslim immigrants in large numbers. The burden should not fall completely on the USA.
Immediately destroy ISIS using overwhelming military force by NATO and other allies with massive numbers of boots on the ground. We should crush ISIS like an insect. Destroying ISIS would solve much of the worlds refugee and terror problem. We have tried ignoring the problem but it has not yet gone away. "There is a time for peace and a time for war."
